Hi guys,
Does anyone know a glue which can join ABS plastic?
It needs to withstand a lot of vibration and the plastic has a cross section of about 8mm x 3mm at the break, something which could "fuse" the broken plastic back together would be great.
Many thanks in advance :)

You should be able to melt it with a soldering iron to fuse it together - it will be a smelly process though. Another option is Araldite (2-part exoxy resin) or if it's under a lot of vibration a sealant type glue, like the stuff used to stick bodykits on cars may work well. Alternatively, some strong superglues can actually fuse plastics together.
Any further details on what the part is/ used for would be good to make any better suggestions :)

Its the fan support / shroud for a LuVe condensor, it supports a ~250mm AC fan
I was damaged when i got it but i've held it together with wire for months, i want to fix it properly tho :)
Epoxy didn't work, i tried it before but it doesn't penetrate and came apart after a few hours.

Hi Tom, I know that there is a glue that ca bond Acrylic, I think this would be the one for you but can not give you the name as I have forgotten it, but if you call up an acrylic manufacture they will tell you the name of the glue for the job.
It will be something like this.

Okay there are more than one version of ABS plastic, with more than one glue - there is a company called durapipe that sells it and the bonding glue to suit which (I think) is distributed by BSS.

Best thing for gluing plastics is a "plastic cement". It doesn't fill the void with another plastic but actually welds the two broken plastic ends by unraveling the polymers and basically fusing them back together.

this is the sorta stuff you want, you're never go back top super glue again :D
For brand names you can look here (http://www.hobbylinc.com/prods/rgg.htm)
Best advice - go look round some RC forums as they're breaking stuff off cars and models all the time the range of glues they have at their disposal is pretty impressive
