basically i'm after some pretty decent ram, stuff that'll hit 550/1100 MHz type stuff, i was originally gonna buy some pretty heavy 8500/8800 stuff but trying to avoid the price if possible

Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC2-8500 (1066) seems a decent price but i've heard of people having trouble getting it to run at the claimed speed

i'm trying to keep as close to a tonne as possible, but was wondering if anyone knew of some 6400 that has repeatedly shown to get to 1100 (my patriot will hit 1020 odd max even at lower multy so defo the ram not the chip holding me back).

or know where i can get some quality 8500/8800 for near £100. some i've been looking at are:

2GB Transcend aXeRam DDR2-1200+ PC2-9600 (4-4-4-12) Dual Channel kit (a brand i've not heard of and seriously doubt that speed and that timing claim)

2Gb Mushkin DDR2 XP2-8500 (1066MHz) Enhanced Dual Channel kit (place i'm looking has them for £107 but no stock :/)

2GB DDR2 PC2-8500 Team Xtreem Series (5-5-5-15) Dual Channel kit (ugly as sin)

2GB CellShock DDR2 PC2-8500 1066MHz (5-5-5-15) Dual Channel kit (under a tonne)

i'm tempted to either wait for the mushkin to get into stock or go with the transcend stuff if people here have heard of them? anyone know some second hand stuff going cheapish?

any further recomendations greatly appreciated

edit: or as i mentioned earlier
2Gb (2X1Gb) Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC8500 but like i say, i've heard people struggling to get them working at stock let alone overclocked

I'm running Crucial Ballistix PC8500 (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-093-CR)

It's D9 based memory, I had mine up to 4-4-4-4 1136mhz. 5-5-5-15 1240mhz, I am sure they can do more too.

Failing that the PC6400 Crucial is meant to be good for 1000+. 5-5-5-15

I agree with weescott i have heard nothing but good things about crucial ballistix 8500. Also ocz reaper are good. But although i have had bad service from ocuk before they have the ballistix for £76.36 which is a nice price and in my experience you should be able to find them £5 to £10 cheaper else where. When 45nm hits may even get a set myself.

Crucial PC5300 is the best value RAM on the market, and its also some of the best RAM on the market.

I have a set of 2GB OCZ PC8888 set that I should flog when the classifieds opens as it's already packaged up to be sold! I bought it to tide me through while my CellShock went back for RMA :(

As above though, the Crucial PC5300 is very good performance and value for money - but you're not guaranteed the high-end clocks.

I have a pair of 1gb DDR2- 6400 Team Xtreem 3-3-3-8 ram, it'll sit happily at 1230mhz with 2.35vdimm. A snip from MemoryC @£117 inc VAT and Del. Really good ram.TeamGroup Xtreem PC-2 6400 RAM Linky (http://www.memory-configurator.co.uk/products/description/2Gb_Team_DDR2_PC2_6400_Xtreem_Series_3_3_3_8_Dual_ Channel_kit/index.html)

The axeram is wrongly labeled on memoryconfigurator, its actually 5-5-5-15.
800MHz Ballistix is mega cheap... £52 for 2GB
