Okay... Follow this for a simple 3ghz overclock for now, then check temps again:

1. Make sure U check ur temps, for air you really wanna keep idle below about 38 deg for that chip in an ideal world. Use coretemp beta

2. Into bios... First into the CPU menu & disable all the rubbish in there like Vanderpool & C1ST... There are about 6 settings, disable all of them!

3. Into the Performance menu...& change the following:
AI overclocking - Manual
CPU ratio control - Manual
Leave the Cmos ratios setting to 9 at the moment
FSB Strap - 266
FSB Frequency - 333
PCIE Frequency - 105
DRAM Freq - Auto (for now - sort them later)
DRAM Command rate - 2T
DRAM Timing Control - Manual
Set it to 5-5-5-15 (for now) & leave the rest on auto

4. CPU Spread Spectrum - Disabled

5. PCIE Spread Spectrum - Disabled

6. Voltage setting:
CPU Voltage - 1.4v (u prolly wont need this much for 3ghz, but u can change it later)
CPU Voltage Damper - Enabled
CPU PLL Voltage - 1.5v
DRAM Voltage - (u need to check to see what OCZ reccommend - prolly around 1.9v IIRC)
North Bridge Voltage - 1.55v
Leave all the other settings on Auto for now

That shud give you a nice 3ghz, just keep going back to bios & upping the fsb & make sure you keep an eye on temps. Best to keep them below 70deg (full load) Once you get stuck you could up the vcore some more, but I wouldnt go above 1.5v on air. I would guess your max OC on air to be around 3.2 - 3.6ghz, depending on the chip & how flat the IHS is

Then take 2 tablets & call me in the morning :coffee:

whoa! OT indeed! sorry for making you trawl through all the crap I post!

OPB is a PR guy/tester for Team Group. We get on pretty well, and he was granted a limited signature edition, using cherry-picked sticks from Teams initial stock of PC6400 3-3-3. I needed new RAM at the time and jumped on it straight away. What went into the OPB Edition was "top bin of the top bin" and each set sold had a Custom SPD flashed with the fruits of Kevs time as a RAM tweaker, as well as one or 2 tweaks that I added in later on. Each set also has the recipients name in the SPD. No heatspreaders, custom stickers and each pack signed by OPB :D Still benchable at over 600MHz over a year from purchase. Theres better RAM kits out there, but these are probs about as bling as my rig will ever be!
