After having my Asus Maximus Formula go all weird on me. I managed to get it all working again with a bios update...but.
It wont boot into XP with more than 1.7v through the CPU, but it boots fine into Vista 64 with 1.75v.
CPUZ in XP shows .002v Vdrop and no V droop with 1.7v, but in Vista 64 CPUZ shows 1.75v fluctuating back and forth to 1.74v at idle.
The extra .05 volts makes a 200mhz difference.
What's going on?

BIOS issues. All i can think of mate. BIOS is new, it doesn;t seam to be liked that much by all from what i read. 903 sucks, i might go back to what came with it as it works!
ASUS are working on better BIOS for the 45nm stuff, just not making it fast enough or a decent working one!
Bord does have huge vdroop on there, defo needs modding

You could be right about 903 Pete, I'm using 907 ATM though. The OS choice doesn't make sense to me though. Asus are updating thier Bios' a lot at the moment. 901 was good for me. Now to find it again.

you sure its the cpu thats stopping you getting into XP or is it a compatiblity issue created by the BIOS update. Maybe check that the BIOS setting you had before the update are the same you have now?

I know the bios settings of the Asus Maximus Formula inside out. I have noticed the differences in bios revisions since 401. 602 was good, as was the 701 beta. I'm not sure what the issue is. It all seems to be a bit random. :s
