Tonight is a prime example of why I sometimes hate computers... :help:

Got myself an Accelero S1 for my 8800GT & tonight I dedided I was gonna fit it together with a bit of a ghetto modded 120mm fan...

All went perfectly, I love taking my time with this stuff and getting it perfect... about an hour later with a few ciggy & beer breaks in the middle I was ready to slot it in...

In it goes, all connected up... here we go... Nothing :@

All booted up fine, but no signal to monitor :(

Checked & re-seated it 3 times... Nothing

Remounted the cooler again & double checked everything... Nothing

Tried my old card... Nothing

Tried a 7200gs (waiting to be thrashed)... Nothing :(

Back to the drawing board... got my old 1/2 built xp2500+ out, spent 20mins re-building it... connected it all up... Nothing

U can understand I'm now starting to get real pissed :@

Pretty much re-tried everything above again... nothing

Checked monitor, Nothing wrong I can see...

3 Hours later...

Turns out it was the ******* DVI cable... :@

I mean, HOW, WHEN... FFS {goes to find shotgun}

Sometimes its the simple things that go overlooked.

I'm guilty of always looking to deeply sometimes.

When the problem is staring me in the face!

 that's so typical! The amount of times that sort of thing has put me close to packing up my stuff!

Although, it kind of makes me feel better that others get them problems too, so thanks for sharing :)

Thing that annoyed me the most is that I was looking forward to a night of benching 3dmarks...

But instead I spent hours trying to sort something that only took about 10 secs to fix

After pulling my hair out, I now look like this:

Oh well, always tomorrow I spose & at least as Thicky says, it didnt turn out to be expensive ;)

Welcome to the World Of PC's

Like so many here I truly feel for you having been in many a situation like this before, often resulting in much more serious fatlities than the cable, although I have to admit (fingers crossed) thats never happened to me, but it's another thing to check in future.

It just goes to show that your diagnostic skills are even more complete.

Gtz on sourcing the fault and looking forward to seeing your accelero results.

That is very true. Eventually, you'll know every possible problem so you can only win

(unless bits have blown up)

I';m guilty of not reinserting the PCI-e power lead onto the card a few times. Led to a frantic half hour or two.

Lol glad you found the problem, my best one is having two psu's sat next to each other and plugging the 24 pin from one and the 8 pin from the other into the board that took me a day to notice the mistake.
