X48 M/B, but with Bios update most will be able to run these new CPU's.

what he said. Also i think 790i will be 1600fsb capable out the box

P35, X38, X48, 780i, 790i are all able to do 1600FSB, just look at the clocks done on them

I think he refers to the supported FSB not what it will clock to - so it will be:
Example - 780i does not officially support 1600mhz fsb, although we know it will do it, it's not an RMA if the board you buy wont reach it.
P45, X48, 790i offically
I heard somewhere that there may be a BIOS update for P5W DH to support (as in identify the cpu and be able to install it) it - good luck getting 400mhz fsb from that everyday lol.

404mhz was the max on mine, volt modded and water cooled!!!

we dont know what will happen with the new bios updates with regards how well the M/B;s will clock, my P5K3 would not even boot the new 45nm CPU;s without a bios update and now its rock solid and clocks very well, so only time will tell when all the updats arive.

That's very good. I assume they designed the hardware for the 45nm CPU's, but just didn't implement it in the BIOS.

Most M/B's will surport the new chips, its just a matter of when and if they make a bios update for them.

412MHz on mine, early one though. Saw a few getting higher later on.

Pete's board was volt modded - not sure about yours, I have one here that tops out at 375mhz volt modded (340mhz standard), so you can see there are a 'few' good boards, most are (unfortunately) like mine.
The point to really drive home here though - I am sure you will agree that these are hardly massive overclocks for a CPU that has a 1600mhz (400mhz) fsb as standard though - and of course we are most likely talking quad core so that will effect the max again.
Look for official support if you intend to overclock.

Aye mine was about the same, 400MHz was certainly Prime stable, though had it upto 410MHz for benching.

Mine was a very early one limited to 1.65 vMCH, no volt mods + air. Prime at 400Mhz, a wall at 412Mhz. I was under the impression the later ones had higher vMCH, reaching higher fsb's.

I take your point, does seem odd to release a P5W bios supporting an 1600Mhz fsb when a large portion of the boards can't run that high, not to mention they struggle with quad cores.
