Currently I have P35 Asus p5k simple one not deluxe and 4 gigs of Crucial Ballistix DDR2 PC2-8500C5 1066MHz With Q6600 b3 and for some reason does not overclock well (i think cpu eats loads of juice need lots of vols but im not sure) or i did something wrong lapped it and so on running everything under water.

So my plan was to get qx9650+ mob+ ram phase and as they are expensive and i have to buy a new car soon i was thinking to get q6600 g0 + asus maximus extreme dd3 rod watercool edition and 2 gigs of dd3 ram 1600 with some good timings.

So guys what do you think is it worth upgrading or i should just wait for x48 mobs and im not sure about the ram will it outperform 4 gigs of ddr2 ? im not uber leet on technology but i know basics of overcloking and building pc's ;)

If it was me i would Wait to see what the new year brings us as the X48 M/B's will fully support the new 1600fsb CPU's.

Does anyone know if the 9770 is faster than 9650?

Although a board with 400mhz FSB support is destined to clock higher (FSB) than current chipsets, I an;t see the value of the 9770 right now - a 9650 with a P45 or X48 mobo would be good though.

Looking HWBot the 9770 don't seem to be clocking any further than the 9650s so I wouldn't have said so.

Aren't they going to be selling them along side QX9650 as well, with the 9650 at the 650-700 price point and the 9770 even higher priced?

It is far to early yet to say the QX9770 is know better than the QX9650, all the results we have seen are from Engineering samples so there is still time for a few tweaks, i will put my neck out and say that the QX9770 will be better than the QX9650 due to the extra bandwidth it will provide, yes we can overclock the 9650 to 1600fsb and make it the same but then again we can then overclock the 9770.

It is just far to early to be making assumptions saying that there is know point in the 9770 cpu as Intel are and will be making some final tweaks to its new CPU before it goes on sale, plus we have the X48 motherboards that will fully support this new CPU, unlike the motherboards we have now which just have a modded bios to support them, give it another month and then we can say what we see.

I read intel delayed 1666 CPU's as AMD has nothink to offer. its on XS:huh:

Na mate the delays are the lower end CPU's, Core 2 Quad Q9300, Q9450 and Q9550.

As far as I'm aware the whole lot are delayed due to technical issues, at least this is what an Intel rep said, though it could easily be because of AMD :D
