Quick question for y'all, just out of interest, what is the first major (computing) purchase you plan on making in the new year? And what are you most looking forward to?

For me, either a 45nm dually or new cooling.

Not sure what im most looking forward to. At the mo, maybe Nehalem or R700- a "real" Dual-core GPU is pretty cool.

You? :)

I don't have any immediate plans on anything at the moment. Going to see how the 3870GX2 or whatever it's called pans out or what Nvidia gets upto GPU and 790i wise.

Hopefully Phase, although the first purchase this year will be K404s' E6850, and hopefully an E2180, just for having a muck around with.

Depends on what I break at the LN2 meet.

Well for me I think it will deffo be QX9650 this month and come Feb 14th the GX2 nvidia card will also be a strong contender - the line up should be strong enough to produce some decent benchies.

Depending on what motherboards come available for said cpu, the P5K3 may also be replaced at some point.

yeah skull fcuk those e2***'s are a godsend for playin about with, i feel a little less guilty about running suicidal voltages through my e2180 on air given that its a sub £50 cpu :)

I think it had an nl11f, but we were considering the Electrolux alternative - but I can't remember without checking what Gray went with. It should also have the new @itor head which will be nice :)

That's right. It's a shame about recent circumstances as he has had my unit for over a year and he's very difficult to get a hold of. Hopefully he'll have things all sorted soon and I'll have a single stage to once again bench properly!
