Today i charged cascade 2nd stage.
Was charged at Baz's a few weeks back but bad valve leaked so i got a little R1150 to charge it myself. Had a epic getting regulator but thanks to SoddemFX which is a Guru on Phase in my eyes. Also thanks to Baz and of course me main man Paul "sacha35" who built it with me ;)
Will get more pics up soon just i am working nights and need bed again
A vary of Loads i did for around 15minutes each Load. Ambient was 5oCish i think as was cold. My hands felt it
IDLE was a tricky one as it was a little wired and i think it was due to my UEI meter but it was around -106oC and 2nd stage =114PSI.
It did climb more but i wasn't fussed :D
270w - Evap -105.4oC and 1st Stage -41.9oC
Pressures @ 1st 125PSI - 2nd 135PSI
300w - Evap -103.7oC and 1st Stage -41.2oC
Pressures @ 1st 130PSI - 2nd 145PSI
340w - Evap -101.1oC and 1st Stage -40.1oC
Pressures @ 1st 132PSI - 2nd 170PSI
EDIT:Specs Added

340w Load had around 20minutes and didn't budge. 1st stage is a complete Animal. The unit holds 350w but in the 90's so not worth it and 270 with collapse so its a fine nice tune think.

Idle but i will test again tomorrow with a Fluke meter

More pics tomorrow when i have another Day to attach to a CPU :p Dam im excited.

Nice load and temps there Dave, excellent stuff ;)
And those pressures are lovely too, sweet unit

A lot of this makes no sense (all the talk of collapsing and pressures). I take it high pressures are good?

Those aren't high pressures on the second stage, they are nice and low.
Dave, do you just have straight R1150.? Or did you add a little R290 as an oil carrier.?

Outstanding work on the tuning dave, some very good results there mate, will have to see if it can hold this chip i have here:D

Straight R1150. Using a decent oil sep so that takes care of that. :waiting:

Lovely unit Dave! Looking forward to seeing some quad core thrashing! :D

Just wondered dude, R1150 doesn't carry oil too well so some use R290 to carry POE oil around the system, well, up to the oil seperator then feeds the suction side a more healthier supply of oil giving the compressor a longer life.
I think it was either 'Ricky' or 'Before' who found that out, but you have a very large flow rate on that second stage so it'll be fine, sorry I came over as patronizing dude, I just worry like an old woman sometimes. :)

Cool ;)
this beast has been a long time coming
but what a cascade in the end you must be very pleased

nice temps! I would really like one of them, but I've been informed that they are very expensive :(

Depends Stocky, if you wanna bench on LN2 once a month then that gets expensive over a year too. Buy a system like this, job done, just flick da switch :D
Can cost between £900-1500+ depending on spec and how you do it. Acquiring tools, gases and experiance if you do it yourself, more for filling that way but can be even more costly.

That is a lot of cost when compared to a single stage, but I'd really like to go to the next level which I see as being a cascade. I guess I'll have to do more research in it (there's lots on them over at XS) whilst saving up!

Very impressive mate.Is it the strength of the 1st stage that gives it such a small idle/load delta ?

Well it uses a lot of juice. I love it my GF dont tho.

Well i have a little problem with hardware. My PCI wont budge past 110 now when it was 125. I think its Ram causing the problem.

1st stage is the key. I took lots of pointers when picking 1st stage as i see other cascades have trouble with high load. I know CPU's are suppose to kick less heat load these days but i thought if building one go best i could get.
What temps have you got with Speedfan.?
Mate speedfan is no good. I cant ready CPU temps with anything as the bios locks at 9oC :@
