Yeah and will need SLI compatibilty to work.

04-01-2008, 09:19 AM
I *think* the SLI is done on the board, so it would work fine in any board with a PCI-E x16

I mean in games etc...

the 7950 GX2 would only perform in games like a single 7900 GT if the games didnt support SLI.

What a total waste of time & money with the 9800GTX due only about 1 month later... Which will probably be cheaper & faster!

yep, but SOMEONE will buy this. I just worry about someone paying £250+ for this and getting 50% or less better performance than a single GTS.

still, it means that you can get the most from your cpu on x38 and still run sli :)
then, as its so close to 9xxx you can use evga's 3 month step up program :)

The step up is a total waste of time and money IMO.

1. Quad SLI?
2. Why not get two 8800 cards?
3. How much power?
4. How hot does it run?

skull_fcuk

So, on mobos with 3 PCI-e slots, and 3 way SLi enabled, does that mean you could run 3 of these? Potential 6 way SLI? If so, that would be ...

A- scary for the PSU
B- scary for the Wallet
C- scary for the Driver Writers

Teknokid
04-01-2008, 01:28 PM
yeah, i though that, it depends on how many sli bridges they have....
It would need atleast 1.5kw to be safe....

Johnny Bravo

probably 2 as its 2 PCBs

Probably 4 as both board could well be 2 plugs per board

Teknokid
04-01-2008, 01:32 PM
no, it will be based on the 65nm, otherwise it would need dual cooler like 8800gtx and be quad slot (lol)
So i would guess its 2 8800gt's together, in which case 2x6pin or 1 8pin :)

Hope not :S The GTS has 1 plug so I cant see this frankenstein having 4..especially as they might be downclocked to cut the heat dump a little

Rofl.... I doubt it, NV were rubbish with the drivers for the Old GX2 that never worked with SLI, so I really doubt this card will be any different....

As for £250+... I think ur having a Giraffe mate, more like £400+

Plus I think Kenny's Nickname, is actually the technical name for this Monstrosity

I guess it's just a bit of fun (stop gap) until they release the new tech; just like the 7950GX2.

Hopefully, I'm all for Dual GPU but not Dual PCB.

Yes it does....

That's old GX2's just a shame to spend all that money to just look 'sick', especially when there is feck all support for it. Check HWBot for 3Dmark scores single GX2's and multiple cards, scores are shocking.!

How rude! My 7950GX2 was an awesome little performer about a year ago :p

all your scores seem to be single 7950gx2....
what did they look like under water?

what did they look like under water?

That's right, but the scores were pretty good so the price-to-performance ratio was actually very good. I didn't have it for long though as I was at uni so 46044pts for 3DMark03 (water) was good at the time, although a bit poo compared to these later offerings :coffee:

At £100 a piece for the waterblock I only have the one watercooled.

@Stocky, yeah single cards are wicked, still use one of mine ('someone' killed the other for me  ) But all the scores for two GX2's are nearly a 1000 points down compared to the single GX2.

I just hope this new card isn't gonna be the same.

Dualist, saw these links earlier when I was hunting for a 7950GT waterblock...

That Aqua graphics looks just like a lump of plastic, probably why it's so cheap

I used Danger Den...

I used the expansion set from Swiftech ;)

I wonder if it would work with the new card or if they'll do one for it?

update to first post. lUS price: $450!! (subject to price gouging)

Seeing as the 8800GTS512 is £180 over there, that seems a bit too good to be true?

Teknokid
05-01-2008, 12:48 PM
yup, thats like £225 here + all the taxes etc, even so thats like gtx pricing

Pre order $598/£297, they have 3870x2 for $476/£235 to compare.

Draw your own UK rip off estimates, I probably get one to try.
