Just thought I'd say hello to everyone and tell everyone a bit about myself!
I joined this site after talking to prosser13 on overclock.net (I'm aka "alk" on OCN) who recommended it to me after I mentioned I was planning on building a custom Single Stager this summer.
I'm studying for a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering and I'm in my 2nd year at the moment.
Really looking forwards to getting to know everyone on the forum and hopefully this site will provide the motivation I need to put together this SS this summer!

Uhoh! Well could be worse - you could be from Craigneuk! :help:
Do you have any experience with SS's btw? Coz if I go ahead with this SS in the summer would be useful to have a contact I could shout on if I run into problems!

Please keep us up-to-date with your SS build - do you have any ideas on spec yet?

Hello there, and welcome! :)
Please keep us up-to-date with your SS build - do you have any ideas on spec yet?
Still very early stages but my current ideas are:
Danfoss NL11F Compressor
Custom Chilly1-esque evap
200mm Condensor with shroud and 230V fan
Not too sure on what flex hose to go for yet. The unit will most likely be charged with R290.
This will be my first ever Phase Change system EVER! I had been planning on doing this last summer but one thing led to another and didn't get around to it!
Couple of other ideas I've had (case mods more than anything) are to add a window, shnie up the copper pipework, and perhaps later mod the unit to have a liquid cooled condensor with UV reactive coolant.
Also thought about adding a heat exchanger on the suction line as a waterchiller for use with small chipsets when the evaporator is being used on a CPU, and as a water chiller for GPU or CPU when the Evaporator is not in use.
Messes up the superheat of the system though so might have to throw that idea out of the window pretty quickly!
Any suggestions are welcome! Just don't expect this project to start until mid May 2008 because January exams are coming up (All 7 of them in only 2 weeks!) and semester 2 of University.
At the moment it's just a product of procrastination due to my upcoming exams!
