Hi.

Well I've got my C2D E6600 @ 3.4Ghz 1.47V load (1.5V idle) I got it set to 1.55V in bios so quite a big Vdrop, I tried getting 3.6Ghz but there is no 1.62V etc.. so I cant actually get 1.57V so is it safe to say 3.6Ghz with this E6600 is impossible? I plan on wacking a Penryn quaddy in this P35C DS3R since I wont need to upgrade my 8800GT.

About tempertures.

Right now : 1.49-1.50V 10-20% CPU usage it wont go down according to Speedfan and CPU-Z I'm at 28 degrees. At load (1.47) my temperatures are about 57-59 degrees depending on how high my fans are at, I usually have the case fans set to low as they too loud at medium or high and with the CPU fan at max I think I got a solid 60 degrees.

So do those temps seem fine and what about my max OC on my E6600? safe to say 3.4 is the max? BTW I've got an Antec P182 case and my CPU Cooler is an OCZ Vindicator with a Hiper 120mm fan on it.

Thanks
Willz.

Hi there and welcome!

Your overclock sounds good and temps are fine, I dont like my E4300 to go above 60C but they are ok beyond that how often is it up that high? Your board might have something called loadline calibration (asus boards call it that) to help with Vdroop when enabled there should be almost none.
3.4 isnt the max you just need something frosty on it! ;)

Oh how is that board? Is it the combo DS3? With DDR2 and DDR3 slots?

Going by your temps are you using the stock cooler.? That's all I could manage on my E6600 with stock air.
I tried getting 3.6V but there is no 1.62V etc
Is that 'cos there is no BIOS option or did it get too hot.? If no option then that will be your lot then if not the go water or better air.

BTW, welcome to the forum :D :coffee:

Hi.

Yea its the combo with DDR3 and DDR3, if I am playing UT3 for a long session then I'm guessing its going to be at 60 degrees alot since UT3 get the CPU to 100%. I dont think I have anything such as loadline calibration, there is something called C.I.A.2 but I dont think its got anything to do with that, I'll have a play around in the Bios :), I'm happy to get up to around 65-70 degrees.

Hi.

Sorry typing error there I meant I was trying to get to 3.6Ghz but there was no 1.62V etc..

I'm not using the stock cooler, I'm using an OCZ Vindicator with a 120mm Hiper fan on it, and its at around 28 degrees idle and 60 load at 3.4Ghz 1.47V, I never thought stock coolers would be able to do just as good

Btw thanks for the welcomes both of you

Hi,

CIA2 isnt it but I think there should be something in there somewhere, it will probably in the same place as actually setting the voltages, not sure what your BIOS is like but they sometimes give a description of what the setting does on your screen somewhere.

It all depends on your chip, my E4300 would only just go to 2.9GHz on stock cooler :( but I run F@H so I am at 100% load 24/7 so I dont like my temps above 60, with a freezer 7 pro I am fine at 3.2GHz 1.475V.

I cant find any settings on it so must not have that feature. I'm abit dissapointed with this mobo, sure its better than my last mobo (P5N-E SLi) but I was hoping to get a Q6600 or even Penryn Quad Core for it but I hear they will struggle to get even 3.6 with this mobo :(.

I did a build recently for a friend and was looking at that mobo so I could give him DDR3 capability in the future but after reading a few online reviews I decided it wasnt worth it, got him a P5K vanilla instead and it runs his quad just fine at 3.0GHz I doubt he will ever need more. Its a shame about the Vdroop my gigabyte DS3-965 droops massively as well, I think its just a gigabyte thing :(

I think the P5K-E is a decent board if you dont push it too much (caps blow up at high volts lol!) clocks quads well and 45nm CPUs.

Its not just a gigabyte thing my P5N-E SLi has worse, should of got a P5K in first place.
