Okay some know i do this crazy sport on a mountain bike, hoping over stuff and doing shows. 2006 i took a bad fall, latter followed by nasty car crash. 2007 i was in plaster loads with broken bones and just trying to heal up. My sponser stayed true to me offering me a window as and when i wanted and could go back. In the end i had enough and pulled out of anyhting for 2007, my sponser was sad but very helpfull non the less.
2008 Jan 2nd, had my passing off im medicly fit (though i have beer belly now), im wanting to get on a bike and kick some butt asap. Oh and the new misses helps as she digs me on a bike.
After a few days of talks a deal has been done and custom frame has been drawn up.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/corsapete/Forum%20stuff/Stock20V220copy.jpg
Yes all 100% cnc sections then TIG welded togther. Hand made in the USA!
Geometry
Wheelbase: Long 1095mm
Chainstay Length: 385mm
BB Rise: Long 30mm
Head Angle: 71.5 degrees
Centre of BB shell to top centre of head tube: 670mm (26.5")
Some may understand that and others wont, who knows. It's totaly new for me this geo, the frame i bought recent has it and i feel really at home on on it so i've taken the geo and used it in whats to be my custom frame.
What does this mean then pc wise etc.
I will still work for the MOD, i will still use a pc. I need to train hard, get use to a bike again and build the underlining musscle we use in trials that you can not via any other sport even the gym!
Once im happy and my physio is im off on demo runs, so my time will be limited. I'd do my day job with the MOD but the PC line will have to take a back seat i think. It's early days and anything can happen.
Everything has just been confermed via an e-mail along with a 2008 ridding contract of demos only. Comps might be something i will re-partake in.
Sadly this will mean i wont be able to bump the UK and BT up on bench marks as much as i had planned.
Will keep you up too date on the progress, frame build time is 3 days of cnc, day welding, day of polishing and anodizing prep, day finishing then it's ether i go out to the usa for few days and get it or Dang (my new boss) comes here.
I don't think i have felt this happy.
sad to let BT and Uk down on bench markings but like ive said anything can happen.

Hope Tech is owned by family so im going to use a Hope Pro II 28H that i will mod once it arrives, have also ordered a Pro II rear trials 32H as i use Chris Kings ISO with stainless steal drive and HD axle or a single speed. I might use the king for the pimp factor.
Rim's, Trials UK who are behind a company called Viz have some new rims in devlopment, they are cnc'd as well, i'm trying to get a pair of them, 39mm single wall front, 50mm rear doubble wall. if not then a pair of Koxx rims, single front modded with drilled side walls and i will file out square holes and the rear be stock 32h doubble wall.
I got some photos of the mod Dang just built for him self, i will get them up loaded asap

Goddam that is a thing of beauty. I recently paid £500 quid for a Giant XTC Se (2007) but i'm ashamed i havent listened to my dog, and it languishes in the shed. Im glad you've found a way back to where you're happiest. Keep us updated with your progress, and vids would be nice ;)

I see a couple of clamps at the back end, I hope this wasn't the jig for welding.? Welds could be neater though :p
But the machining looks top notch. ;)

Well as it's cnc'd there is no direct need to use a jig. Normal frame building there is but this no need. However he is going to be using a jig on his next build which is a newer version of his frame. Also that frame i showed was his 1st go at aluminum welding which is dam hard.
We've got a guy that is an aluminum frame builder and very well known for it to do all our welding. Tig relys on getting the heat into it, as you can see heatube he kinda failed to do so!

Utter crap, if you weld you need a jig or some need to clamp in place. Especially Ali as it distorts all over the place. Is he heat treating it.? Not necessary on 7000 series Ali (as it gets it's strength back after welding over time) but 'owt else (ie HE30 (6082)), he'll have too and for that he'll need a jig for it.
Should make an interesting ride ;)

That looks very very nice!
Just bought a Saracen Tour 07 for £180 off Ebay and £5 to get it serviced. Nice and light. Already got a basic GT Aggressor 3.0 as a little off-roader.
Although as I am bit of an amateur when it comes to bikes I pose the question is there a reason why you haven't incorporated rear suspension, I see all these mountain bikes at like >£900 with massive rear suspension yet you don't have it...
Its a totally different style of riding. If you've ever seen "kids" hoping up onto benches, walls, rails etc from their back wheels its basically that, you dont need the suspension really. Good tyres, dont need the front mech cause you only need the low gears. (Well thats what I can remember when my mates were into it).
That new craze where people jump of roofs and go into rolls, backflips etc (can't remember what thats called) but trial riding is a bit similar but on bikes. (well I think so!)

Specilized FSR XC comp (got nicked after 6 weeks :( )
Merlin Custom build ("cheap" replacement for the FSR)
Airborne Lancaster Titanium custom build (My long time baby - floaty light and british build!)
My trails bike was cobbled together from a pashley 26MHz frame and some DH gear for sturdiness!
looking good so far Pete ;)

Nope, i built lots of frames when i worked for both ARC and Pashley and didn't use a jig. All were jiged before heat treatment and and after.
The cnc allows no jig to be used as each part will be bang on to what ever the spec of the machine is. However we will be using one, Anvil Bikeworks jobby, full on pc controled auto geo and frame bending all built in. Any aluminum thats being weled needs heattreatment. Trust me i work in the aerospace ind and i see it all go through hell and daily use. They are being heat treated no matter what as the stree we put through it will kill it, let alone the welding.

trials does not use it. It works by the bike being riged all over. This alows the control and power to be put through the thing. Though i have rode trails on a full sus for a laugh, it sone broke and was dam hard to ride.
Saracen make some nice stuff. My 1st dh bike was the Havoc back in 1998 when it came out then i moved to trials rapidly as its was underground and dam cool.

Single speed (1 gear), 2.5'' rear, 2,35'' front, grind on the rims, thats the basics of today sort of but yeah ya right 99% of our moves are all rear wheel.
Le Parkour or free running, foot trials is basicly the same as trials, the way they preload and move and land is the same. See a decent trials video then see a decent parkour vid and you'll see

Pashley 26mhz with a set of Fatty R's, 130mm 0* rise stem, Middle burns with 20/22t to 17/19t was an amazing thing to ride. Too short by todays std's but it rode amazingly well and was the main break in trials back in the day. I use to ride loads with both Eddy and Matt then Matt went gay and left then Eddy latter then Matt came back and i left working there as the frame just were worth scrap metal (the 26Ghz that is).
Just ordered my new forks, dang is making me some cnc'd dropouts for me for them as the forks are not for trials but with the new dropouts they have a +30mm disc, this will allow me to run a 190mm front disc with a 160mm caliper. oh and there carbon forks, going for 600gm mark, my last set where 465gm and only snapped when the bike fell off my car!
Dave - that video is mental. i will try and get hold of the local le parkour boys and girls i did a video with in Plymouth, they did there thing and i did trials, it's a perfect mix and shows how both work. I learnt loads off them and vice versa

What i'm thinking is getting bench tech logo laser etched on my frame once i've had it anodized. I'll be doing demo world wide so might as well get some advertizing about the place.
