Where is it being held?
Also, a list of planned benching systems might be a nice plan?
5 mins from gatwick
stocky it would be great if you could find out what hardware will be coming this year

Missed out on the last 2 of these Baz due to other plans. I'd love to come down and document the whole day with lots of photography action going on and then can post it all up here!
I've even a decent rig now to bench

If I can get to Thicky I'll be there. I may even be able to get hold of some toys to bring along to thrash.
I currently have the E66, and Q66 to bench and push as hard as they will go.
Will anyone be using cascades during the event or will one be up for grabs, if so I'd like to put a bid in on a cascade for running as my last 2 LN2 sessions weren't great, and haven't run under a cascade before.

Gatwick, that's not bad as I thought it's be up north somewhere :D
I should have something nice to bench, whether it's just my Q6700(ES) or if I invest in something for it nearer the time.
As far as breaking records - would it make any sense to use some older hardware and make some records with that as then they'll be less likely to be beaten in the future (P4's, Athlons etc...). I don't know exactly how the system works in terms of points etc, so if someone could clear it up for me that'd be great :)

There are a fair few points to be had from hwbot with older/less popular hardware.Even if you only run a suite of system benchmarks, which don't take long to run,you will pick up 10/12 points + and the reward of being #1 with that hardware.Same goes for gfx, many top scores with older gfx were set with older cpu's to match and could easily be beaten with a modern cpu,for some fairly big points.I am actually setting up some s/s action for my old 670 at this moment to plunder a few easy system bench points, and am also planning to borrow a mates 660 to do the same with. Then the real fun will be putting em under ln2 and just beating the living shit out of em :D

I'm looking at doing some old skt478 benching in the near future. I miss the old things. Not that it's that old, but my 7800GTX 512MB obviously needs a good seeing to!

Stocky i never though i'd meet someone that also had a long lasting love of the 478 socket. I'd give up my rig right now to go back on one. Things were easyer and simpler and much more fun. Thicky knows my love for them all too well!

Skt478 for the win! :D
I have a beauty of a chip which I could never bare to sell. I'm glad I didn't sell it now as I plan on going back to it and modding up a skt478 board for some good benchies :)
Just not sure which board to go for, as the obvious choice would be the Asus P4C800-Deluxe (although the IC7-Max3 is on par) - but I'm not sure whether to go with AGP or that PCI-E one that they released - do you know the one I mean (I can't remember the numbers)?

Yeah i know the one ya mean, had an X in the name or something. The MAX3 was a faster and higer clocking bord with some killer mods! Few showing on ebay now and then. I might have to try and get one as well, just for old time sakes
pots have arrived 3 cpu sets for the meet
he has also said he will be sending over some GPU pots for us to test

Dude that's EXACTLY what the team needs to start doing to get the points up. I can understand its a trust issue but i would responsible for it and take it for the day if that is ok with you. :)

It might be worth a try; but see if others agree. The only board I've had go down was an IC7-MAX3 on phase and that was a hardware issue, so I can't say for sure.

Have a look at the pins where the CPU sits on the M/B, one of them could have broken of, so the pin-outs won’t be making all contacts with the CPU.
weescott
23-11-2007, 09:39 AM
pins are 100%. not 1 out of place.
sacha35
23-11-2007, 09:55 AM
As you said the fans spin up and then cut of and keep doing this it sounds like the M/B is looking for the CPU this is why I said are all the pins making contact with the CPU as it sounds like a CPU problem.

weescott you testing with an air cooler? I know that abit and other board if there is no fan plugged in to the fan header will do the exact same.
