Was not a section for genral hardware so thought I would post this here:

Truly amazing piece of engineering and must be good for some immersive gaming :)

They test it with crysis all i can say is what cards what settings serious system needed for that monitor. I have seen crysis eat very powerful machines for breakfast at lower resolutions than that by a long way.

Simply put - a 2GB system, Q6600 (at 3.4ghz or higher) with an 9800GX2 or 3870X2 or similar crossfire/SLI set-up should suffice.

Nice system but any dual card setup plus that monitor far beyond my reach so be nice to see if the same technology can be scaled down to give the same experience at lower resolutions.

Like any new technology - the price will be beyond most peoples reaches in the short to medium term - give it 12-18months and it will become less scarily priced.
I agree - the curved technology in a 'smaller' and better priced screen size would be more appealing financially to a wider audience.
Have to admit though - looks 'the mutz nutz'

very very nice :D should fit in my bay window with its depth. As it seems to be made from 3 screens, does that mean dual screens will be made redundant.:coffee:

At medium settings in XP maybe... Not at max in Vista

An overclocked quad and multi GPU graphix is not enough to run crysis at high detail settings?
I could Max (DX10 Very High) Crysis at 1680x1050 with my Xeon 3060 (dual) at 3.8Ghz and single 8800GTX at 650/2100 ish. Granted framerate hovered around the 20fps mark most of the time, but it's still 'playable'. Quad makes no difference, and SLI still scales pretty poorly (about 20-30% iirc).
Back on specific topic, the display isn't a TFT - it's a DLP. I still want one though! :D

with AF anf AA on maxed out 1280/1024 i was getting abot 15fps with sli'd gtx's, when i turned aa/af off, it get up to 40/50

quad does make a difference, but its not huge.
I think that will be cool if you have dual monitors etc and if they used zalmans 3d monitor technology

OMG that's some crazy monitor. I'm just wondering what the price is going to be :waiting:.
I've been looking at a 47inch lcd (1920*1080) hd tv for bout £1k, that is seriously making me change my mind though. Depends on cost really.

My friend has a 50" LCD linked up to a console and he says that it's awesome!
****x1080 is always good too as it can take a full size HD image.

Does no-one think the horizontal resolution is a bit low for such a screen?

nah, if you think you got 360 degrees of looking round only 180 for up down, you use left and right a lot more anyway.

I think that it'd be nice if it supported 1080i - only because you'll be paying a lot for it so you'd kind of expect it to support full HD.

yeah thats what im talking bout really, as much as it wouldnt really be noticeable when gaming it just seems like kind of a jip that i would technically be getting a better picture quality from my 24"...

I thought it would be more than that but still very pricey
