Well i was gonna join up but doesnt seem much point now considering i cant OC anymore because my mobo has a high pitched squeling noise type thing coming from it as soon as i run Prime to check for stability :(:@
Im guessing its one of the caps on the board.
I'll join sooner or later even though ill get walked over :)

I cant remember if its caps or inductors but something squeals on some boards when your really pushing them. Is it really loud? I heard about a few people talking about it but never experienced it myself.
P.S. Welcome to BenchTEC! :D

Ty, ive been looking around here for awhile but only just signed upto the forums as this kind of crazy stuff interests the hell out of me :D!!
Well im only taking my E6600 to 3.6Ghz.. 400x9 1.42v Which i have done on a Tuniq Tower before hand and never had this noise... Its not squelling as in the noise a GTX makes when u forget to plug the power leads into it... Instead its a very high pitched noise that u can just hear sort of thing...
As soon as i heard it i stopped the prime and went back to stock... im not ready to kill this stuff yet :) Once i have my new gear im happy to lol ;)

Welcome to BenchTec UK! :)
I had squealing with one of my boards - I believe that it may have been the CPU voltage regulators, but it is difficult to know for sure. Is the noise the only problem? If it is the only problem then that's no excuse for not benching! :p
try adding superglue to the inductors if the coils are exposed- most of the squealing is from high frequency oscillation IIRC.
Welcome to BenchTec :D
Take the increasing volume and pitch of the squeal as a monitor of your OC level ;) Thats what i do!

Thanks!
It sounds like its from the CPU area (top left of the board). Yes that is the only problem.. i let it run prime95 for about 30mins before the high pitched now was ruining my hearing heh :)
I may tinkering abit tonight when i get home and run some benches. Last time i ran 3D06 i got 13900 something...i wanna break 14k!

Superglue onto inductors..never heard of that before..got a feeling ill learn alot here heh, ive already been in contact with LD about costs of units and such..just curious at the moment but there's always a possibility!
So im guessing when the pitchness gets so high that the human ear cant hear it anymore...thats when you back down :p
No clue..... my rig will crash before the freq. passes my crap hearing range :)

I have the same issue on my P5k Premium mobo... Its squeals like a stuffed pig on the PCmark05 test with the screen full of walking people..
It only seems to do it when i put 1.7vcore through the chip.. Dont seem to affect stability thou.

My 8800GTX's squeel like a kid being babysat by Michael Jackson any time I take them above 730 core. :/

^^ Hahaha
Sounds like im not alone on this high pitch squelling noise... maybe i should just ignore it and go for gold ;) I havent yet hammered my system since i built this WC loop :o

my 8800GT hates high clocks and sounds like its gona die every time 3Dmark starts up.
All part of the fun of benching. If it dies its got a stock cooler and then will soon find a stamp and be off for RMA :)
