Are either of these two apps able to read sub zero temps ? Im sure i've seen them do so before on other peoples systems ?

Neither of them will read for me  Both just stay at 3*c the bios also does the same.... So i think its motherboard related. Asus P5k Premium.

I know the temps can't be right as the Phase controller says -42*c full load at 4.3ghz and the system benches fine at this speed.

Any ideas ?

I think it reads from the CPU.

eg...my QX only goes to 20c
The E8500 goes to 3 c on one core and 20c on another....but thats a different story
The P4 520 reads properly, I have seen it down to -40c odd.

hmmm.... so its nothing to worry about then, as i would have imagined it would have melted by now if there was an issue....

It also depends on how the phase display is callibrated. It might only be reading the Condensor temp. With my unit there seems to be a 20c difference between condensor and CPU reading. But...on that note. Never trust bios or software readings. Proper CPU temperature reading are pretty darn hard to measure.
