View Full Version : X48 delayed again
Intel has sent out a notice to inform partners that the X48 chipset delivery will be delayed to WW12, which is in March. No motherboard manufacturers will get chipsets before that and that includes the first tier like ASUS and Gigabyte. Although there is no reason provided by Intel in the notice but it is definitely not due to the 'one of the first-tier motherboard makers still holds a large volume of X38 chipset inventory' rumors.

P45 is also miles away.
Sooo...there will be a shortage on X38 boards once current stocks sell out, then X48 will eventually replace it at some hideous cost in April.

With all these delays we would be as well waiting for Nehalem, as long as that isn't delayed as well.

That's a real shame as I guess that now means a longer wait for the next chipset after that :(
(also too late for Forum Wars)

Thats not the best, i thouhgt i started reading about x48 a bit late and taht it would be well on the way to the shelves, clearly not. good job i have a backup x38 board - a hardware crisis would be the worst in between x38 sell out time and the entry of x48.

Looks like we're pretty much stuck with the current hardware we have for the forum wars then!

Team Japan got their Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 up to 5967 MHz (13x459) and 7.797s in SuperPi 1M during some first quick tests with liquid nitrogen.
